Bigfoot Biking

This week two people from Bigfoot Bike Adventures came to teach our syndicate about biking and for some of us who didn't know how to ride a bike, how to ride a bike. First they talked to us about safety, this included: How to check a helmet, how to check a bike, good clothing to wear on a bike and about fine for not wearing a helmet. After they talked to us about safety and we put on the helmets they gave us we each got a bike, and started to ride around the court. They got the people who were confident on a bike and they started to play games, the people who weren't confident on a bike used the rest of the space to practice their biking skills. After we finished the biking we put the bikes and helmets away, then the two Bigfoot people gave out prizes. Here are some photos of the day:

Athletics Day

Last week we did a huge Athletics Day on Tuesday and we had a lot of activities. These activities were: High jump, Long jump, 100m and 200m and 400m sprints, cheering for the people in the sprints, Shot put, Polluted river and Relays and that is only the ones I did. We rotated in groups of ages until we had done most of the activities, all together there were 12 activities. My favorite activity was High jump. I jumped really high and the world seemed to fly past me and I came fourth on the left hand side. I also liked the Polluted river. It was an area full of chalk drawn rubbish and germs, we got put into groups of about four people and could only use big rubber dots and we got the same amount of dots as people in our group. We could not touch any of the chalk drawn rubbish or germs or could not step on the concrete and we had to make it to the other side. My house group (Pukeko) won the Junior relay and middle relay. Here are some photos of the day:

Create Tumble

This week my syndicate had to finish 9 activities throughout the first block of every day, except for Friday. These activities were making butter, paper planes, pavement art, a Lego scene, cutting patterns, plasticine character, origami frog, marshmallow maths and play-dough insects. My favourite one was the plasticine character. Here is how I did it: first we looked up an image for inspiration, I did the Chomper from Plants vs Zombies. Next you would get the colours you needed and you would start to make the body. Then you would need to detail and on things like eyes, lips or the mouth. Finally you would do some more details and now it's done. Link to slide. Here are some photos:

Kids Bot

This week my syndicate did a task from this online site called Kids Bot, first the teacher made two kids in the syndicate stand up and move to a particular area. Then the teacher drew a grid on the whiteboard and said to one of the two kids standing up that they were the bot, then the teacher put a sweatshirt on the floor and drew both the bot and the sweatshirt in the grid. Then the teacher ask other students to move the bot to the sweatshirt using three instructions as much as they want, these three instructions were: forward, turn left and turn right. Then the teacher asked us to make our own paper version and most of us didn't finish it. A couple of days later we the teacher ask to make a version on our Chromebook, we could make our own theme but we also had to do three different thing character/s had to do. Here is the work I did:
